The Utah Jazz are looking for a new head coach and that may lead them down a road that the Brooklyn Nets took this past offseason when they hired Jason Kidd straight out of retirement. There have been a number of players rumored to be up for coaching jobs and we can add Portland Trail Blazers veteran Earl Watson to the list.

According to CSNNW.com, the Blazers veteran has come out and said he’d like to interview for the head coaching gig in Utah.

Per Chris Haynes of CSN Northwest:

"Earl Watson of the Portland Trail Blazers has a strong desire to become the next head coach of the Utah Jazz and would relish the opportunity to interview for the position, league sources associated with the guard informed CSNNW.com."

It’s unclear who the Jazz are coveting as they’ve been all over the map with possible interests but Watson isn’t the worst option ever. Haynes points out that Gordon Haywood has already endorsed the idea of playing for Watson which bodes well for his chances. We will have to see how good Watson’s chances are but given the shallow head coaching market he may end up being a better candidate than we think.
