The Washington Wizards season may be over but that just means it’s time to start figuring out the direction of the team moving forward. There are some big names the Wizards need to think about brining back or letting go in free agency and perhaps biggest of all is center Marcin Gortat who helped the Wizards improve mightily this past season.

Gortat is a free agent and there have been talks of the Wizards trying to pursue Greg Monroe in Detroit, but Gortat is already praising Washington’s roster — specifically John Wall — and seems to be reaching out to let it be known he wants to re-sign with the team.

“I can’t play with blind point guards. I can’t do that. I have to play with a willing passer,” Gortat said, via Ben Standig of CSNWashington.com. “John is probably atop that list.”

John Wall took leaps forward in his game this past season and has emerged as a true leader in Washington. Gortat endorsing him is not only proof of that but also shows that the team chemistry the Wizards have been trying to build is finally setting in. There’s no guarantee that Gortat will be back but he seems to already be open to the idea.
