Ray Rice has escaped any punishment from the NFL in the wake of the video of him knocking out his then-fiancee and now his wife at a casino and dragging her unconscious body out of an elevator, but Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco expects to have Rice lining up behind him when the season opens and doesn’t expect and suspension.

According to Jordan Ranaan of NJ.com, Flacco said, “I don’t foresee anything crazy happening with that. “I’m expecting to have him [for the entire season].”

Considering Roger Goodell’s propensity to suspend players who fail to protect the shield, it would be extremely far-fetched for Flacco’s expectations to come to fruition. With video of the incident it would be a travesty if the NFL did not suspend Rice and send a clear and powerful message that violence against women is not to be tolerated.

Further, failure to suspend Rice would result in a number of female fans losing their interest in the NFL at the very least.

The personal conduct policy could come into play in this case according to Pro Football Talk: “If Rice pleads guilty or no contest to the charges, or if he enters a diversion program, his case becomes ripe for review under the personal conduct policy.  At that point, Rice could be suspended.”
