Roger Goodell salutes Adam Silver for his handling of Donald Sterling
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke at length today on several NFL matters after Minneapolis was awarded the 2018 Super Bowl, including expanding the playoffs, potential punishment for Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, the lack of progress on HGH testing, potential modifications to the NFL Draft and more.
Goodell did get an NBA-related question when he was asked about the way NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has handled the ongoing Donald Sterling controversy after the Los Angeles Clippers owner was recorded making racially insensitive comments which prompted Silver and the NBA banning the Clippers owner for life and fining him an unprecedented $2.5 million.
From one commish to another, and not that Silver needed the acknowledgement to know he did the right thing in regard to Sterling, but it has to feel good knowing a person who is a commissioner of another sport is applauding the way you’re handling your league’s affairs.
Sterling is preparing to fight the punishment from Silver that he must sell the team and pay the substantial fine and has hired representation to try and remain as the owner of the Clippers.
