This week the Derek Jeter retirement tour has made its way to one of the most historic venues in all of Major League Baseball as the New York Yankees are at Wrigley Field taking on the Chicago Cubs. While through the first month and a half of the season we’ve already seen a few memorable moments in Jeter’s final year, nothing may top one single picture that was taken on Tuesday night prior to the game.
Any fan of the game of baseball can appreciate a picture with two legends of the game together, which is exactly why you should take a look at this awesome picture below of Jeter with Cubs legend Ernie Banks.
Ernie Banks, more affectionately known in history as “Mr. Cub,” played with the Cubs from 1953 through 1971, playing both first base and Jeter’s position of shortstop. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977.
We’re going to see a lot more special Jeter moments throughout the rest of the season as he visits opposing ballparks and is shown respect, but it’s pictures like this that really put it all into perspective.
