There was a terrifying scene at last night’s Braves-Brewers game as a young fan was struck by a foul ball off the bat of Carlos Gomez and needed the taken the hospital. It was truly a chilling scene as it’s not often that players on the field react to things that go on in the stands but after the young fan was struck you could tell that the players were distraught.

Thankfully, the story didn’t end there, as while the young fan was taken to the hospital, he received a visit from some very special guests the next day. Members of the Atlanta Braves, along with Carlos Gomez, visited the boy in the hospital to make sure he was doing alright.

Gomez is a fiery guy and it’s no secret that he has had a history of getting under the skin of his opponents. In fact, just last year he incited a fight with the Braves when he showed up his home run while rounding the bases. Catcher Brian McCann refused to allow Gomez to cross the plate until he apologized — or something — and a fight broke out.

But this time around, Gomez and the Braves were putting their differences aside to help a fan in need and it’s truly a moment that shows how much something that seems so little can cheer up someone who is in need of a boost.
