Once the season came to a close, the Utah Jazz decided not to renew the contract of head coach Tyrone Corbin and now are on the hunt for a new head coach.

According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports, the Jazz will be interviewing current Los Angeles Clippers’ assistant coach Alvin Gentry.

"Los Angeles Clippers associate head coach Alvin Gentry is expected to soon interview for the Utah Jazz’s head-coaching vacancy, league sources told Yahoo Sports.Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey arrived in Los Angeles on Wednesday to see predraft workouts. The Jazz have already interviewed Chicago Bulls assistant coach Adrian Griffin, but have been deliberate in their process to hire a new head coach."

Two of those teams that are expected to show interest in Gentry are the Cleveland Cavaliers and Memphis Grizzlies. Gentry has a relationship with Cavaliers’ general manager David Griffin from their days with the Phoenix Suns. If the Memphis Grizzlies and Dave Joerger do indeed part ways (and it looks like that could happen soon because Joerger is set to interview with the Minnesota Timberwolves), Gentry is expected to be a target of the Grizzlies.

Spears also reports that Steve Kerr’s Golden State Warriors and Michael Malone’s Sacramento Kings are eyeing Gentry as an assistant.

Gentry has posted a career record of 335-370 with the Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns.
