There have been plenty of questions about whether or not free agent tight end Jermichael Finley will be able to return to the NFL this season and just how soon he could be cleared, but there are still very few updates on his injury status.

More from NFL

Finley was previously believed to be close to a return, but he still has some work to do before receiving the clearance that he is hoping for.

From Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com:

"I can tell you that after talking to several people about the matter after those tweets, that there has been no change in either his medical clearance or his contractual status with the Packers. Until the former changes, meaning the Packers’ doctors give him the OK to return to the field, nothing will happen with the latter. And let’s be clear about this: Even if Finley’s doctor says it’s safe for him to resume his career, that does not mean individual doctors for NFL teams will have the same opinion."

The Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks have been the only two teams linked to Finley since the beginning of the offseason, so we will have to wait and see if they continue to have interest once Finley is healthy and ready to go.

If they do, they will have their own medical team conduct a thorough medical check before agreeing to take the risk and sign Finley to their roster.
