This offseason is on that could see the Chicago Bulls change major parts in the engine that runs the team as the likes of Carlos Boozer, D.J. Agustin and others are likely gone and players like Nikola Mirotic, Carmelo Anthony and maybe even Kevin Love could be coming to the Windy City.

We can apparently add Paul Pierce’s name to the list as the former Celtics star and soon to be former Nets leader is set to hit the free agent market this summer and could find his way to Chicago.

More from Chicago Bulls

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bulls may end up being a viable option for Paul Pierce over the summer. Pierce is among the options that Joe Crowley lays out, but it’s unclear if the former Celtics stud would want to come to Chicago as he may find himself coming off the bench if he does.

It all comes down to who the Bulls find in the draft and who else they can bring over in the offseason. Right now, Jimmy Butler looks locked into the starting small forward position after the incredible season he put together. It’s possible that the Bulls could put him back on the bench or use him as a sixth man but it’s far more likely that the aged Pierce would be coming off the bench instead.

There’s also the money factor to take into account as the Bulls are trying to bring on Carmelo Anthony and if they want Kevin Love then they’ll have to make decisions on who to keep and who to either stop pursuing or simply let go from the roster. The most likely landing spot for Pierce is in Los Angeles with Doc Rivers — or wherever Doc Rivers coaches next year — but Chicago is an intriguing option and we can’t count them out just this yet.
