Richard Sherman on Cardinals’ Peterson: ‘We make plays, they make excuses’
If you know anything about Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman at all, you knew there was no way he was going to let the recent comments by Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson go without comment.
More from Arizona Cardinals
- NFL Power Rankings: Who is the best quarterback in each division?
- Steelers almost had a full-blown family reunion in Pittsburgh

And comment he did.
The whole thing started on Thursday, when Peterson went on-air and on record about Sherman on Arizona Sports 98.7 AM, saying:
"“A lot of guys say he’s a shutdown corner. But if you look at film and guys who understand the game, go back and look at film and see how his defense is. I believe that if you put him in our system, I don’t believe he’ll be able to last, honestly. Because I actually do much more than he is [doing].”"
And Sherman came back, as he almost always does, on Twitter by posting a graphic of the numbers comparing NFL corners, with the caption “Lockdown everywhere but the field”
From that point, it was on and the pointed tweets flew back and forth between the two.
Sherman put the exclamation point on the exchange by giving the Twitter version of “talk to the hand” in this tweet.
Knowing the nature of both men would tell us that this battle is far from over, both on the field and off. Nothing like a little in-division competition, right?
