Drew Brees has sat around for long enough. After his team fell short in the playoffs against the Seattle Seahawks, Brees seems to have been chomping at the bit all this time. Soon enough, he’ll get his wish.

More from New Orleans Saints

“We’ve been working out in the weight room long enough,” Brees said, via The Advocate. “It’s time to get to … some actual football.”

Amen, brother.

The NFL offseason has seemed especially long because of the delay of the NFL draft, but the truth is we are about a month away from regularly reading about practices and OTAs once more. Speculation season never quite ends in football, and with the practice season we should only get more juicy bits about Brees and others.

The pads may not be going on for full contact drills yet, but teams are taking their first step in that direction, and that in and of itself is an exciting prospect.

None of this should come as any surprise to fans of the New Orleans Saints or the NFL in general.

Drew Brees is known as one of the hardest working players in the league and a tireless creature of preparation.

Given the way Brees and the Saints nearly came back and beat the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs, it should come as no surprise that this squad and its leader are raring to get back to meaningful football this fall.
