The New York Rangers were able to get an overtime win against the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday night which put them one way away from clinching the Eastern Conference Finals and reaching the Stanley Cup.

More from New York Rangers

While the series lead should be comforting for the Rangers, it will not cause them to be complacent.

In fact, the Rangers will be keeping their focus on the ultimate goal and they understand that the Canadiens can get right back in the series as quickly as New York was able to take the lead.

This is far from over,” Richards said, via Andrew Gross of Ranger Rants . “I remember sitting in here down 3-1 against Pittsburgh. They will feel bad tonight, but tomorrow they will wake up in front of their home crowd and once that game starts, 3-1, you throw that out the window and it is back in the battle again.

“We have to realize the longer it goes the more life and more belief they get, so it’s going to be a very important start to the next game.”

It won’t be easy for the Canadiens, who gave up home ice advantage early in the series, but this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs have been as exciting as ever and have shown us all that the unthinkable can happen.
