George Springer, a blue chip outfield prospect in the Houston Astros system, finally has his name in the headlines for a good reason.

Prior to a recent hot streak at the plate, Springer was best-known for his decision to turn down a pre-arbitration contract extension offer and his early struggles at the big league level. With six home runs in the last six days, however, Springer is finally garnering attention for the best reason: because of his ridiculous talent.
Springer extended that streak on Wednesday against Danny Duffy of the Kansas City Royals. With that home run he keyed another Astros victory (not a type-o) and a sweep of the sinking ship that is the Royals franchise.
At least for now, the Astros are starting to play decent baseball. That should provide at least a little bit of hope for an Astros’ fan base that has been asked to buy into the most drastic version of a rebuilding process. What’s more, the winning ways have centered around one of their top young players, a good sign for any franchise.
George Springer is batting .333/.457/.772 with 16 R, 10 XBH (7 HR), & 19 RBI over his last 15 games.

The #Astros are 11-4 in those games.
Springer now has nine home runs on the season to go along with a .269 batting average that seems to rise each day. There is still a long ways to go in Houston, but a stretch like this one is enough to have some hope.
