Johnny Manziel aided Texas A&M in landing no. 1 dual-threat QB Kyler Murray
By Jack Crosby
Head coach Kevin Sumlin and the Texas A&M Aggies landed undoubtedly their biggest commitment of the 2015 recruiting class on Wednesday in the form of no. 1 dual-threat quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray chose to head to College Station over the Oregon Ducks.

While many thought that the Texas A&M program would suffer once Johnny Manziel left, it appears to be the opposite. The Aggies are up to no. 5 in the 247 Sports recruiting rankings and will continue to chase that SEC Championship.
What also helps the Aggies in not falling off the radar since the departure of Johnny Football is the fact that Manziel is apparently doing all he can to make sure the program continues to thrive, even as he begins his NFL career.
Shortly after the commitment of Murray, Manziel not only welcomed him to the A&M family, but he let it be known that he had one final discussion with him on Tuesday night before he was ready to announce his decision.
Then, Murray himself revealed that the former Heisman winner played an integral part in his decision to play football for Texas A&M.
It’s always nice to see former players support the success of their football programs when they leave, but it’s more refreshing when someone of Manziel’s status goes out of his way. With all he’s been dealing with lately as he begins his NFL journey with the Cleveland Browns, Johnny Football didn’t have to make it a specific point to get in touch with Murray, but he did.
