Andre Ethier stars as Johnny Utah in Point Break Live! (Video)

For many people, being a major league baseball player is the ultimate dream. Andre Ethier has already achieved that dream, so he has to move on to other dreams. Recently, Ethier got to live out one of these other dreams when he took the stage to play Johnny Utah in Point Break Live!

You might ask yourself, “What in the hell is the point of doing a comedic stage show based on Point Break?” My answer is, “Why does everything need to have a point?”

Certainly, Point Break itself had no point, except to show off the studliness of Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. So it stands to reason that any other versions of Point Break, parody or otherwise, would also have no point.

If Point Break Live! did have a point, it would be totally missing the point.

Andre Ethier certainly doesn’t care if any of this makes any sense or is even a sensible way for a grown man to be spending his time. He’s just out there having fun, being Johnny Utah, doing Johnny Utah things, saying Johnny Utah lines.

Now if it were me and I were living out some Keanu Reeves dream, I’d rather be his character from The Devil’s Advocate. Because his character in that movie is basically Jesus. I personally would rather be Jesus than Johnny Utah.

And he’s married to Charlize Theron in that movie and, well, that seals the deal. You can have your surfboard, I’ll take Charlize.
