On Thursday night, the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers square off in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals with each team facing very different circumstances.

More from Montreal Canadiens

For the Canadiens, it is a must-win scenario while the Rangers can eliminate Montreal and send themselves through to the Stanley Cup Finals.

A lot of teams will say to take things one game at a time and to avoid letting the pressure overcome you too much, but the Rangers are ready to embrace the big opportunity facing them and eliminating the Canadiens from the postseason.

“It’s an opportunity to win the game to go to the Stanley Cup final,” Rangers forward Brad Richards said, via ESPN.com. “I think everybody is alert and ready that way. We were talking about it all (Tuesday) how excited we were to get on the ice and start playing.

“We had some mental breakdowns, but I don’t think it had anything to do with (fatigue). We’ve had a lot of rest this series. The opportunity that faces us right now, we’re pretty excited about it. I don’t think there is too much letdown.”

It doesn’t get any better than clinching a berth in the Stanley Cup Finals and bringing home your conference championship in front of the home crowd, so the Rangers will have plenty of extra motivation when they take the ice in a few hours.
