The Brooklyn Nets have spent big money over the last few seasons, acquiring four former All-Stars in Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

More from Brooklyn Nets

All of those players, with the exception of Pierce, who is set to become a free agent, will return at a very high price (unless Garnett opts to retire).

Forward Andray Blatche is going to opt out and become an unrestricted free agent. As well Shaun Livingston. The Nets could have trouble keeping any of these players because of their cap situation. They also are without a draft pick because of all of their trades, which means they could have to look elsewhere and try to find a bargain player in free agency. Reportedly, the Nets have already begun to put together a list of of those types of players they will pursue.

According to Lenn Robbins, a Nets and Barclays Center senior writer, the Nets will target Donte Greene, DeAndre Liggins, D.J. Kennedy and Scott Machado in free agency.

  • Greene was the 28th-overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He has averaged 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds for the Sacramento Kings i his career.
  • Liggins was selected by the Orlando Magic with the 53rd-overall pick in the 2011 draft. He has put up 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game with the Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat.
  • Kennedy, a former St. John Red Storm guard, has appeared in two NBA games, in 2012 with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
  • Machado has appeared in six career games, all with the Houston Rockets last season.
