Indiana Pacers never seriously considered firing Frank Vogel

When the Indiana Pacers were struggling to stay afloat in the Eastern Conference playoffs, there were increasing questions about the job security of head coach Frank Vogel and the conversation quickly started trending towards not if he’d be fired be when and how quickly?

But while the public perception of the situation was direly negative, the situation itself inside the Pacers organization was not as serious as it may have otherwise seemed.

According to SI.com’s Chris Mannix, the Pacers never seriously considered firing Frank Vogel and he even got an internal vote of confidence to ease his mind amid the rampant rumors running wild.

Vogel being fired for the season he had would have been a violent overreaction from Indiana. After all, he brought the team to Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals and managed to turn things around in a series against the Heat that looked unwinnable coming in.

But Vogel coached his way into another season with the Pacers based on his overall job this year, but the question is will be be around beyond next year or is Frank Vogel living on borrowed time?
