American soccer fans fail when asked World Cup questions (Video)

There is no denying that soccer is on the rise in popularity in the United States. You can see it at the United States men’s national team games when the American Outlaws roll into town with their every growing number and legion of supporters.

Since soccer is becoming more popular, and dare we say trendy even, that means everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Everyone wants to be a fan during the hype to something big, it happens with local teams making playoff runs and it happens in soccer now that it is becoming “cool.”

One YouTube channel hit the streets in New York City’s Times Square to ask Americans about soccer, and some or most of whom are wearing soccer gear.

For instance, he asks some Real Madrid fans, wearing Real Madrid jerseys, how the club team will do in the competition for international squads. They think Real Madrid can play well and challenge despite not competing. They also identify Spain as their favorite team internationally but are unaware that they won the last World Cup.

The Real Madrid fans are the worse, they don’t know where Gareth Bale is from but think he will play well in the World Cup despite the fact that his country, Wales, isn’t playing. One fan in an American jersey doesn’t think Wales will do much in the World Cup because he needs his Real Madrid teammates.

One guy thinks the USA could buy better players because we’re not a third world country, apparently unaware how international competition goes. Another fan who says he is going to the World Cup said he thinks Spain’s Lionel Messi will be the top scorer, but he plays for Argentina.

It is just awful, watch these people fumble through their soccer knowledge.
