With Apple set to introduce it’s next generation of software at the Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, many Apple fans and consumers in general are wondering what sort of improvements can be made to the operating system on the iPhone and iPad to keep  it at the cutting edge of the consumer world.

One of the ways that Apple can not only return to the cutting edge but also sort of catch up with the pack is to introduce a split screen capability on the iPad, a feature that has sorely been lacking in all previous iOS updates.

As Mashable also speculates, the new announcement by Apple could lead them to introduce a split screen capability in the new iOS 8 which would directly compete with the likes of Microsoft and Android who have used their own capabilities as a sticking point as to why they’re superior to Apple.

"Both Windows and Android (at least some devices) can display two working apps onscreen simultaneously. While the iPad lacks this feature, Apple may be planning to introduce it in iOS 8. That would greatly enhance the tablet’s use as a platform for productivity, although the feature is reportedly not ready to be unveiled at WWDC."

Apple will be live streaming the event on their website, which is usually only something they do for massive events. This is leading many to believe that the iPhone 6 could be announced, but it could also be that there are just so many cool and important features added to iOS 8 that simply showing it off is big enough for Apple.
