Los Angeles Lakers’ power forward Pau Gasol is set to become a free agent.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

There is an excellent chance Gasol returns to the Lakers, but several other teams, including the Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Memphis Grizzlies are expected to pursue Gasol while the Houston Rockets also could get into the mix.

The most interesting name on the list could be the Grizzlies where Pau’s brother, Marc, the 2012-2013 Defensive Player of the Year, plays. With the potential of Zach Randolph to become a free agent and leave the Grizzlies, getting a player like Pau could be a big need.

Although the elder Gasol is going to put a lot of different factors into his decision, he told David Pick of Euro Basket that it would be “really nice” to play with his brother.

"The Lakers center who’s soon to become a free agent mentioned the Memphis Grizzlies as a potential landing spot. “I don’t know what’s going to happen. When July 1 starts officially I’ll receive offers and calls from teams interested. From that point, I’ll examine all proposals and value what is best for me. Playing with (his younger brother) Marc would be really nice. I play with him every summer for the Spanish national-team, but joining Marc won’t be the only factor. Hopefully I’ll have offers.”"

Pau Gasol averaged 17.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in 60 games while Marc Gasol went for 14.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game in 59 games.

Most believe the biggest factor in Pau’s decision will be playing for a title contender.
