Apple WWDC 2014: OS X Yosemite revealed
Apple held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference keynote speech on Monday. During which, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed to everyone in attendance — and those watching online — the brand new operating system coming to Mac computers, OS X 10.10.
Known as Yosemite, the new operating system features new flat icons, new translucent backgrounds and new application layouts, among other features.OS X Yosemite will also feature a brand new dark mode for those who don’t like the bright, clear look that Macs have been known for.
The new look resembles that of iOS 7 in terms of the clean, slick and easy-to-navigate look. The re-design isn’t as vast as expected, but it is a much more professional looking user interface than ever before.
The application dock is one part that has been completely overhauled. Better, cleaner icons with more of a focus on translucency. The Notification Center will now includes the same day view that iOS includes. Users will be able to add, and remove, first- and third-party apps to the Notification Center in the form of widgets.
The new Spotlight feature now gives users a search bar in the middle of the screen. It adds the features of a web-based search engine without having to open up Safari.
