Steven Adams made headlines for his rough play quite a few times during his rookie season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. But with Kendrick Perkins among his teammates, Adams may not haven been the toughest player on his own team.

More from NBA

Check out this crazy story that Adams told about Perkins from early in the season.

From NewsOK.com

"Was there any on the court I know I’m in the NBA now moment?Nah, not really. Probably the biggest reality check I’m in the NBA was in practice. That was probably the biggest ones. There would be a day, Perk, he was there. And we were like scrimmaging or whatever and we kinda got into it like we clashed. I’m innocent, I didn’t do anything, I accidently hit him. And then like, he turned around and elbowed me in the ribs and I’m like ‘oh my God’ (holding ribs). Then he just yelled at me: “I’m the only silverback!” I was like “What the…?” So that was a big check, it was like, “We got some animals in the NBA.”"

“I’m the only silverback!”

That’s one of the funniest stories I’ve ever heard about trash talk on an NBA court. I have so many questions about it.

Like, did Perkins think about saying “I’m the only silverback!” and he was just waiting for the perfect time? Or was that just the first thing that popped into his head during the confrontation? I don’t really care though, because it’s amazing either way.
