Remember that slow start to Miguel Cabrera‘s 2014 season? Yea…me neither.

Cabrera is hitting like Cabrera again, which has been the case for a while. Entering Wednesday night he was batting .321/.368/.550 through 54 games with 10 home runs and 49 driven in. So yes, Miggy is doing just fine.
As for his career against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, Cabrera was batting a modest .278 against him in 18 at-bats entering this game. In a match-up that is suddenly worthy of the marquee, Cabrera came up against Dickey in the bottom of the first inning.
He got a pitch to handle, stayed balanced, and sent it over the left field wall to tie things up. It wasn’t even necessarily a terrible mistake. Dickey was just victimized by what happens when Cabrera gets a pitch to handle.
As for Dickey, his year has been up and down so far. He entered the night with a 4.30 ERA through 12 starts. Tonight presented an interesting match-up for him as he got to try and pitch like an ace against the American League’s best during a stretch in which the Blue Jays have been one of the biggest stories in baseball.
Unexpected though this was, this is a match-up between two of the AL’s best teams.
