NBA Rumors: Could Chicago Bulls trade for Arron Afflalo?

It has become quite clear the Chicago Bulls are going to do everything they can to add a superstar in the summer and are expected to make a run at both Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love and New York Knicks’ forward Carmelo Anthony.

The Bulls clearly need help on the offensive end and if they don’t land Anthony or Love, Cody Taylor of Basketball Insiders wonders if the Bulls would trade for Orlando Magic guard Arron Afflalo.

Afflalo could become very attractive to teams that are in need of another scoring option, such as the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls have been rumored to want Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love and possible soon-to-be free agent Carmelo Anthony. Should the Bulls falter in acquiring either of those players, Afflalo could become a real option. The Magic could be looking at Carlos Boozer and his expiring contract in return. With the Magic due roughly $22.7 million in cap space this summer, they can afford to bring in Boozer and his $16.5 million contract. The Bulls may also have to throw in one of their two first-round draft picks in a deal like this. The Bulls currently hold the 16th and 19th selections, respectively. The Magic could potentially be looking at the No. 4, No. 12 and No. 16 or No. 19 picks.

This isn’t the first time this move has been discussed. Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors believes the Bulls could even included talented forward Nikola Mirotic of Real Madrid, who the Bulls own the right to, in the deal.

Afflalo had a fantastic 2013-2014 season, averaging 18.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
