Many a times over the last decade Floyd Mayweather has been accused of picking and choosing his opponents, while ducking others. One such fight that has failed to gain traction was a clash between Mayweather and Amir Khan.

Over the weekend, Khan challenged Mayweather to a fight once again, and after witnessing the huge success of Carl Froch vs George Groves at Wembley stadium this past weekend, Floyd is willing to oblige.

“It’s been a goal to come to the UK and put on a spectacular event and the plan is to do just that. I love all my fans in the UK and I want to go there and give a good show at Wembley before I retire. I plan to come in the near future. I want to continue to make history with the mega events we put on,” Mayweather said, via Yahoo Sports.

“The Floyd Mayweather brand is globally recognised. The warm welcome over there in UK is a good indicator of the magnitude of success a fight would have. We’re looking forward to it in the future.”

The fight would have international appeal, as the hype would probably include an America vs Britain angle that every fight fan loves to get behind.

Khan has been trying to fight Mayweather for at least two years now, but the Brit has never had any success up until now. While Mayweather defeated Marcos Maidana back in May, Khan dominated Luis Collazo on the undercard in hopes of setting up the matchup with Mayweather.

With the chance to fight in front of his home country against one of the greatest boxers of all time, it is no wonder that Khan is so excited:

"I think it will be the biggest fight ever in Britain. Global interest would come to England and we’d sell out Wembley. I really want to bring this fight to the UK. I’ve fought all over the world and been top of bill but this would be so much bigger. They have done a fantastic job hyping Groves and Froch but this fight is on another level. Floyd is boxing. Britain would shut down. It would be like the World Cup final of boxing."

The one major issue is that Mayweather recently left Golden Boy Promotions after CEO Richard Schaefer resigned. Khan recently signed on to Golden Boy in hopes to ease tensions during a potential meeting, but now that Floyd is out the potential fight is up in the air.
