More from Colorado Rockies

Barnes, pinch hitting for pitcher Chris Martin,  hit a shot off the base of the wall in center field.  The ball caromed away from center fielder Ender Inciarte, and the race was on!

The home run brought the Rockies to within 9-7.  They went on to lose the game 12-7.  This is the first time that the Rockies have been swept at home by the Diamondbacks since the first week of April, 2008.  The Diamondbacks outscored the Rockies 32-17 in the three game series, including scoring 28 runs in the last two games.

Charlie Blackmon and Troy Tulowitzki also went deep the conventional way in the loss.  Blackmon led off the bottom of the first with a solo shot to right.  Tulowitzki also hit a solo shot to left to lead off the home half of the sixth.

The visiting Diamondbacks got home runs from Chris Owings, Paul Goldschmidt, and Miguel Montero in the victory.  Montero’s was a solo shot in the third.  Goldschmidt’s was a solo shot to lead off the fifth inning. Owings hit a two run shot in the eighth to cap a career high four RBI night for the rookie shortstop.

Arizona will return home to take on the Atlanta Braves this weekend.  The Rockies welcome the Dodgers in for a three game set.
