The Dallas Mavericks are going to be very busy this offseason.

More from Dallas Mavericks

Star forward Dirk Nowitzki, forward Shawn Marion, guard Vince Carter, big man DeJuan Blair and guard Devin Harris will all be free agents. Nowitzki has already said he will be returning and the Mavericks have shown interest in keeping each of them.

However, the Mavericks would also like to add a star player, according Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News.

"“Well first of all, they like being where they are in the draft at 34. They think a second round pick high in the second round is just as good as a late first round pick, in fact better because you don’t have to guarantee the money and you don’t chew up any money that you would rather have in free agency. And as for free agency, we all know the big fish. Carmelo and LeBron are probably going to opt out and become free agents to see what’s out there. I don’t see any way LeBron ends up here, but Carmelo is a different story. He’s going to have lots of options, the line is going to be long for that guy. Even though he’s not a ‘winner,’ people say he’s a good basketball player and a good scorer. So that’s what the Mavericks need and I think they can go after him but I do think a more realistic target is Luol Deng or someone of that ilk.”"

Anthony is probably the most realistic target for the Mavericks, but even that seems like a bit of a long shot.
