According to a police affidavit, Johnson and his wife had returned home Saturday night when Johnson allegedly struck her in the face with an open hand and choked her. Johnson initially left the scene but returned when police arrived and was arrested.
One report says Johnson snatched his baby away from his mother before fleeing the scene of the assault. Johnson’s wife also alleged that he punched a hole in the bathroom wall while she and the child were inside. His wife admitted that the two had been drinking before the alleged attack.
Johnson was booked into Shelby County Jail and was still in jail as of Saturday afternoon. Johnson is scheduled to appear in court on Monday (if you’re going to get arrested, don’t get arrested on a weekend or you’re going to sit in jail for awhile).
A 16th overall draft pick by the Chicago Bulls in 2009, Johnson was signed out of the D-league by Memphis in 2013. He has also spent time with the Raptors and Kings.
