The future of veteran Chandler Parsons in Houston is a bit hazy at the moment as he may end up playing somewhere else next season despite the fact that his best fit may be with the Rockets. It’s becoming a turbulent time for Parsons in Houston as the team is expected to decline the fourth year on his contract which would make him a restricted free agent but all hope is not lost that he could return.

More from Houston Rockets

Houston will likely match any offer that comes his way in the hopes that it’s perhaps cheaper than it would have been if they had negotiated themselves or picked up that fourth year option.

As for Parsons, he isn’t all that excited to leave Houston and would actually prefer to stay and continue to build on what is growing with the Rockets.

That’s an encouraging sign as usually a contract dispute or a situation like this causes tension between the player and his team, but Parsons doesn’t seem too fazed by the situation. He wants to be back in Houston and the Rockets would be foolish to not at least entertain that idea, but they’re running the risk of losing him if they decline his option.

It’s not bad business to have someone negotiate for you, as that’s was restricted free agency is, but it could get ugly if someone overpays for Parsons and the Rockets lose him without getting a chance at a decent price.
