Cristiano Ronaldo throws football with New York Jets
By Cory Buck
Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t used to being allowed to throw a football, but this is America and our definition of the word football is a tad different. Thanks to some time spent with the New York Jets, Ronaldo may have a better grasp on the whole deal.

USA Today reports that Ronaldo and the rest of the Portugese national soccer team have been training this week at the Jets facility in preparation for their trip to Brazil, where the national team will compete in the same pool as the US soccer team in the World Cup. In that time, as seen in the report, WR David Nelson showed star striker Ronaldo a few tips on holding and throwing a football.
Now why is Nelson wishing luck to the best player on the best team in USA’s pool this year? Oh, right, he’s American. We don’t really take it too hard when our team bombs at the World Cup. Fair enough. Either way, look for Ronaldo to be front and center when the World Cup begins as Portugal is likely going to be a force once more in the tournament.
There are more photos of Ronaldo playing football at the Jets’ facilities on their website.
This isn’t the first time that a futbol player has tried to play football. Soccer superstar David Beckham and NFL running back Reggie Bush tried their hands at each other’s respective sports in an Adidas ad.
