NBA Rumors: Arron Afflalo a good fit with Oklahoma City Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder really aren’t that far away.

After losing to the San Antonio Spurs in six games in the Western Conference Finals, they will probably attempt to make a move. Orlando Magic guard Arron Afflalo is available and Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman believes Afflalo would be a good fit with the Thunder.

tom Would Affalo really be a good fit personality wise with OKC? He seems to *need* to take a lot of shots. In the starting lineup he’d be 4th banana.

Darnell Mayberry I don’t think that’s the case at all. He’s never averaged more than 14 shots. Two years ago in Denver, he averaged 15 points on 11 shots while playing on a balanced Nuggets team. I think he would fit in just fine. And, remember, there are 18 1/2 shots freed up by the departure of Fisher and likely departures of Sefolosha and Butler. Of course, some of those will go to Jackson and some to Lamb. But Afflalo can get 10 or so shots a game, supply solid defense and be satisfied being a part of a championship team.

Of course, to get a player like Afflalo, the Magic would probably start by asking for Reggie Jackson and trading Jackson is something they just do not want to do.

Afflalo, who is reportedly open to being dealt to a playoff team, was excellent for the Magic this year and had the best season of his career. He averaged 18.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 45.9% from the field, 42.7% from beyond the arc and 81.5% from the free throw line.

Jackson averaged 13.1 points, 4.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 44.0% from the field, 33.9% from beyond the arc and 89.3% from the charity stripe.
