The New York Knicks are in a position in which they need to win now, as they won’t be afforded a grace period whatsoever to rebuild an recoup after the abysmal season they had last year. With Phil Jackson in town, the success is going to be expected immediately and that’s putting pressure on the current roster to perform up to par.

One of the guys the Knicks absolutely need to be in top shape is Amare Stoudemire. He’s been doing nothing except collecting checks and his performance in 2014-15 could have a lot to do with how well the Knicks season goes. Needless to say, Jackson and the Knicks are expecting the former All-Star big man to return to form this season an start picking up his end of the contract he signed a few years ago.

Per the New York Post, Stoudemire concurs:

"“No doubt in my mind my goal is to get back to that level [of] just three short years ago,’’ Stoudemire said during the book signing in White Plains. “For sure, my goal is to return to the All-Star Game and compete or a championship in the postseason.’’"

Stoudemire could have gone down as one of the best big men in NBA history and despite his struggles, will still go down as such. But he’s left so much of his potential in the past that it’s hard to watch him at times as we know what he could be but hasn’t been in recent years.

He’s a story a lot of folks are rooting for and to see him return to form for the Knicks in 2014-15 would be something that not only makes New York a better team, but will make basketball in general a little more fun.

If he can return to All-Star form, he’ll get to play at the All-Star game in New York City.
