Metta World Peace takes job as high school basketball coach

It’s been a while since we heard from the Artest formerly known as Ron as after Metta World Peace was bought out by the New York Knicks back February he’s sort of fallen off the map bit. but if you were wondering what eh was up to, then TMZ has got you covered.

W we last left Artest, he was being bought out by one of the more disappointing New York Knicks teams we’ve seen in a while but he’s back in the game of basketball — in a way. Artest recently accepted a job as not a high school head coach but the assistant coach of a high school girls basketball team.

Per TMZ:

Peace recently accepted a job as an assistant coach at Palisades High School in Southern California — and head coach Torino Johnson tells us Metta is dead serious about the job.

In fact, Johnson says Metta first called him up to ask about working with the team YEARS AGO … when Metta’s daughter was playing for the squad.

Johnson says he didn’t think Peace was serious at first — but Metta stayed on him and followed up with an email expressing a very real interest in wanting to work the sidelines.

They payoff, according to TMZ, is that this is the first step in a journey that Artest hopes brings him back to the NBA as a head coach. Of course, he must have missed the memo explaining that you don’t have to work your way up anymore, you just have to appear interested in coaching a team.

It’s good to know some people still do things the hard way though.
