This is one way to make a permanent negative impression. Thursday night in a game between AAA squads Syracuse and Norfolk, Orioles minor league prospect Quintin Berry saw himself getting ejected for some kind of dust up with an umpire. Upset with the ejection – or maybe just ticked off at life in general, who knows – Berry very maturely ran around the bases and slid into home.

And, as icing on the cake, he made some kind of gesture at one of the umps after popping up from his slide. He then proceeded to disappear down the tunnel as disapproving boos rained down on him from the crowd. That’s one of the more elaborate eff-yous I think I’ve ever seen. Way more impressive than just flipping the bird. Good job Quintin Berry. You just invented a new form of being a jerk.

So I guess Berry got his point across. His point being? He likes running the bases and sliding into home. He’s going to do it even if he’s been ejected. In his mind, the run counts. It’s Quintin Berry 1, Everybody Else In The Whole Stupid World 0. You show them, Quintin Berry. Show them who’s boss.
