Tim Duncan makes poor fashion statement (Poor)

Tim Duncan is and old school player in an old school system, but that doesn’t mean that his style has to be old school. Duncan showed up to Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Thursday in a pair of jeans that one can only hope were his “lucky jeans,” because otherwise, he made himself look like a fashion dinosaur.

More from Miami Heat

The 38-year-old arrived in an outfit that suited his age. He looked like a 38-year-old who didn’t care about style, one that was about to go pick up his kids after work.

On the basketball court last night, he didn’t care about style either — but he just so happened to have it. He had a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. As the Spurs held a comfortable lead for nearly the entire game, he played only 31 minutes. He was not incredibly productive in the box score, but anchored the team on both ends of the court.

Tim Duncan doesn’t care what you or I think. He does what he wants, wears what he wants, plays how he wants. He doesn’t care that his stat line doesn’t jump out off the page in the box score. He and the Spurs got the job done. He doesn’t care that his jeans look stupid. They’re probably comfortable and they do the job.

Russell Westbrook and Dwyane Wade are flash on and off the court. But that’s not how Tim Duncan rolls. Don’t bother trying to give him fashion advice. He’d probably laugh at you. To use the wise words of Sweet Brown, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.” He’s busy trying to win a championship.
