The NBA Draft is just around the corner and not every team has a draft pick to play with and prepare for.

The New York Knicks are one of those teams that don’t have a draft pick this year and they’ve been looking to acquire one in any way possible. Moke Hamilton from Basketball Insiders believes that the Knicks will land a first-rounder by either buying one or simply buying one off of a team in the late first-round.

The Knicks almost moved Shumpert at the trade deadline to the Los Angeles Clippers or Oklahoma City Thunder but neither deal went through. Now that the Knicks are looking to acquire a draft pick, Shumpert seems to be the most likely piece to be moved in a trade that lands them a draft pick.

New York has also been rumored to be interested in simply buying a pick, but there is interest in Shumpert from teams like the Thunder and Clippers that could help the Knicks land a late first-rounder they covet.

Shumpert is a guy the Knicks might want to hang onto, but the question that all players on roster face is whether or not the fit into the triangle schemes that will be run. Shumpert might not fit and the Knicks getting a first rounder for him is a win-win for everyone.
