On Sunday afternoon, we learned that the Orlando Magic weren’t locked in to any one prospect.

More from NBA Draft

Given that, it makes sense that they could have a trick up their sleeve and according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Orlando is the most likely team to throw a wrench in the upcoming 2014 NBA Draft.

“Draft chatter: Orlando is the team most execs see shaking up the draft. Do they like Smart, Exum or Vonleh? Or someone else? Mystery now.”

The Magic have shown what appears to be strong interest in Oklahoma State point guard Marcus Smart as well as Australian guard Dante Exum, though they don’t appear to be attached to either at the current moment.

Considering the Orlando Magic own the No. 4 overall pick, they’ll likely be just out of the Joel Embiid, Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker sweepstakes range leaving them in a position to really alter the draft with their selection.

We’ve seen in the past how one unexpected early pick really changes the landscape of the draft as recently as last season when the Cleveland Cavaliers decided to draft Anthony Bennett out of UNLV. That lead to multiple players slipping, like Ben McLemore who slipped to the No. 7 selection. Many felt he was worthy of a top-4 pick before the Cavs decided to get creative.

Might the Magic do the same? Obviously not picking first won’t alter the first three selections, but from No. 4 down, it’s possible the Magic could change the course of the draft with one pick.

Orlando also owns the No. 12 pick, though, rumors have suggested they may be open to moving it.
