The Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Nick Saban kept the train of recruiting dominance rolling on Wednesday as they picked up a huge commitment from four-star QB Blake Barnett.

Barnett, out of Corona, California, had originally committed to play for Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, however he recently pulled back from that pledge and his choices were narrowed down to either the Crimson Tide or the Oregon Ducks.

He made his decision live via Bleacher Report, and you can watch that commitment below:

According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Barnett is the third rated dual-threat quarterback in the 2015 class and the 65th rated player overall in the country.

With the commitment of the dual-threat sensation from the west coast, you could see that Saban’s philosophy on offense is definitely starting to gear itself toward more of a fast-paced approach. This year, it’s expected that Florida State transfer Jacob Coker should win out in the battle to take over for AJ McCarron, and he’s no slouch in the versatility department neither.

Coker also has two years of eligibility left, meaning that Saban could redshirt his new prodigy for the 2015 season while Coker finishes up his time in Tuscaloosa, if he sees fit.

As for why he chose Alabama, well, he simply said that it was everything that caught his eye, from the coaching staff to the campus.

“When I went down there, I absolutely fell in love.” Barnett said. “With the coaches, with the school itself. I think Alabama is the place for me and the place that will build me as a person as well as an athlete. I think that’s going develop me the best and make me the most successful in life.”

Later this summer, Barnett will compete as an Elite 11 finalist, where he’ll get to showcase his talents to the nation on live TV, and show everyone what the Tide is getting soon.

Barnett becomes the 19th commitment of the 2015 Alabama class, good enough to keep them at the top of the rankings for 247.
