This past Sunday night, Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs mercifully ended their NBA Finals series with the Miami Heat with another blowout win in Game 5.

More from Miami Heat

It was one of the more overall dominating performances in recent memory by a team in the NBA Finals, and it was even more impressive that they did it against the Heat, who as well all remember, when they first got together, predicted they would win, “Not one, not two, not three…” NBA titles.

Well, at least we know that Popovich didn’t forget that.

At the team’s victory celebration on Tuesday, Pop made a subtle reference to that infamous claim by the Heat when LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh banded together, and it was an amazing troll job by one of the best in the business.

Of course, he was counting toward the number of titles that he currently has as a coach after Sunday’s win, which we all know is five.

That win by the Spurs prevented the Heat from securing their third straight ring, and with the uncertainty of the summer ahead with LeBron James, they may have also killed all hope of the Heat making that initial prediction come to fruition one day.

Still, not matter what the case is, we can all always count on Popovich to provide us with a good laugh, no matter at whose expense it is.
