Tell me please: How in the hell does Jayson Werth not get tagged out on this throw to second base? Was Jayson Werth Fred Astaire in a previous life? Was he a legendary dancer/actor who teamed with Ginger Rogers for a series of memorable musical-comedies in the Depression-ridden 1930s?

More from Houston Astros

Jayson Werth should be out. Somehow, he makes his foot disappear, and then reappear on the bag. Forget what I said about Jayson Werth being Fred Astaire, I think he might be the guy Hugh Jackman played in The Prestige. Somewhere there’s a box with Jayson Werth’s foot in it.

Jose Altuve is like, “Huh? What? Where’d his foot go? I was trying to tag it and then it was gone! And then it was there again! What sort of wizard are you Jayson Werth???”

He even looks like a wizard with the beard. I bet he has a big pointy hat at home. And a cookie wand.

But seriously though, that is some amazing footwork around the bag by Werth. That should have been an out. But it wasn’t an out. Because Jayson Werth wouldn’t let it be an out.
