Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tharold Simon generating plenty of buzz

The Seattle Seahawks have had plenty of success turning unheralded defensive backs into stars over recent years and there appears to be another name that is getting on the radar.

Enter Tharold Simon.

According to ESPN 710, the former LSU cornerback has “generated more buzz than any player over the past month.”

Simon, who spent all of last season on the sidelines while dealing with a foot injury, will now get his shot to make an impact on the field in his sophomore year in the league.

The competition during training camp for the Seahawks’ nickle corner job will be between Simon, Jeremy Lane and Phillip Adams.

If the buzz that Simon has been generating over the past month is any indication, then the Seahawks defensive backfield could again find a player thrust into stardom. Fitting the bill that has led to success for recent Seahawks corners like Richard Sherman and Byron Maxwell, along with Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond who are no longer with the team, Simon measures well over 6-foot tall at 6-foot-3.

Only time will tell whether or not the defending Super Bowl champions will be getting another star defensive back, but there certainly appears to be some promise.

besides Simon…A J Jefferson…picked up from Minn via the Cardinals also received praise from Carol at the end of training camp…he’s a reclamation project…6’1″ 190…closer to 200 and fast…Right now the backups would probably be Lane, Simon and AJ Jefferson…Jeron Johnson and DeShawn Shead back up safeties…Simon is proving to be the Diamond…through rookie camp, OTA’s and mini camp….UDFA Safety Dion Bailey is also getting noticed

I’m not sure if Simon can play nickel matches up against smaller slot players.
