Matt Barkley, meet the Philadelphia media. On Wednesday, Eagles writer Jimmy Kempski put together some notes from Eagles minicamp and chief among those notes was “major concerns” over Barkley’s arm strength. That little note sparked a war of words via Reddit of all places.

More from NFL

Kempski’s full quote about Barkley’s arm strength was this:

"“Matt Barkley’s arm strength is a major concern. He attempted to throw an out route that needed to be driven in there, and his pass lacked any kind of velocity at all. It had far too much air under it, and Curtis Marsh was able to jump in front of the intended receiver for an INT.”"

He went on to point out it was just one throw, but then questioned Barkley’s maximum velocity and whether he could stick in the league for long because of just that one throw.

Barkley didn’t take that comment lightly, finding the time to respond to the criticism via the Philadelphia Eagles sub-Reddit on Friday.

The Eagles quarterback in turn questioned Kempski’s football knowledge:

"“Easy there Jimmy, you don’t know a thing about that route, the defensive coverage, technique of the wide receiver, the route he was actually running, let alone my maximum velocity arm strength. We can play catch sometime if you want to figure out for yourself how hard I can throw it, just lemme know.”"

Kempski responded on the forum, simply stating: “My schedule is open.”

Don’t you just love technology and Reddit war of words?

One thing is for sure, if Barkley wants to stay in Philly, he’s going to have to learn to live with harsh and often-times quick criticism of anything and everything he does.
