Before Joel Embiid suffered a foot injury which will all but certainly remove him from contention of being the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Duke’s Jabari Parker was thought to be the extremely valuable consolation prize who would be selected by the Milwaukee Bucks (owners of the No. 2 pick) or the Philadelphia 76ers (owners of the No. 3 pick).

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

However, with Embiid essentially out of the running, Parker has a very real chance of being the No. 1 pick however his workout with the Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t go that well.

Make no mistake, it’s not as if Parker disappointed the Cavs front office, but Fox Sports’ Sam Amico suggests that both Embiid and fellow Kansas teammate Andrew Wiggins had better workouts for the Cleveland Cavaliers than Parker.

Parker did not, however, look as good in his workout as prospects Joel Embiid and Andrew Wiggins before him, sources said. Parker struggled shooting the ball, according to an account by Yahoo Sports, but the Cavs admired his passion and overall skill level.

Amico did go on to state that the workout went ‘well’ so it’s not as if Parker bombed, though, it doesn’t sound as if he was nearly as impressive as Andrew Wiggins who very well could claim the top selection spot.

According to Amico, prior to Parker’s workout, the Cleveland Cavaliers were leaning towards drafting the Duke product with the No. 1 pick though there’s no indication if that has held true of if there has been a change of heart after Parker’s ‘solid’ workout.
