The Houston Rockets have been attempting to trade both Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin for quite some time, though given their demands and the less than attractive contracts of both players, no deals have been found.

More from Houston Rockets

That might be in the past however as the Rockets, gearing up for a potential courtship of either LeBron James and/or Carmelo Anthony have apparently lined up trades that are ready to go involving Asik and Lin, this according to Sam Amick of USA Today Sports.

“Addendum on Rox free agency front:I’m told they have moves teed up for necessary Asik/Lin trades but want to keep them if can’t get LBJ/Melo.”

Amick doesn’t go on to speculate who exactly the Rockets have these alleged deals set up with, so at this point it all becomes speculation. One thing we do know is that the Rockets would obviously be attempting to clear salary, so whomever they’d be trading Asik and Love to would need to either have cap space or the Houston Rockets would be obtaining a high priced player that would have a buyout clause, allowing the franchise to clear the needed funds.

As you may recall, this is something the Golden State Warriors did during the 2013 offseason, making a trade with the Utah Jazz, allowing them to clear enough salary to sign Andre Igoudala. Of course, if James or Anthony don’t ever sign with the Rockets, we’ll likely never know what teams were set up to acquire the big man and point guard, so for now we’ll await the decision of the two All-Star’s to see if any deal will take place.

For now, it’s nothing more than a ticking clock.
