The 2014 NBA Draft is stocked with talent, even into the late teen’s and possibly early twenty’s which is why the New York Knicks have been doing whatever they can to obtain a first round pick. Currently without one, the Knicks are said to be offering up a handful of players to any team looking to sell off their selection.

Why are the Knicks so insistent on acquiring such? Apparently, it’s all because of P.J. Hairston. A 6-5, 229 pound guard, Hairston isn’t a big name nor is he what you’d call a highly touted prospect (in comparison to others), but he’s been capturing the eyes of many basketball minds with his unique skill set and impressive set of intangibles.

One person who has reportedly become a fan is New York Knicks president of basketball operations, Phil Jackson, who is seemingly the driving force behind the Knicks desire to obtain a first round selection.

"Hairston is this draft’s best-kept secret. A 6-5, 229-pound shooting guard, Hairston is built like a football player but shoots with the touch of a 3-point marksman. He has already caught Knicks president Phil Jackson’s eye, and word out of New York is the Knicks are desperately trying to find a way into the first round in order to have a chance to grab him. They currently have no first-round picks."

While there are likely to be a handful of late 20 pick’s available for the Knicks to choose from, it’s very possible that Hairston will not around come those selections so the Knicks may have to attempt to get a late teen or early 20’s selection just to have a chance at drafting the guard.
