Mills had the best season of his career and will now be looking to cash in in free agency.
Marc Berman of The New York Post suggested the Knicks pursue Mills.
"The Knicks will look to use their mini mid-level exception to obtain a free-agent starting point guard and one may have emerged out of the Finals massacre of Miami in Spurs backup Patty Mills.According to a source, Mills, unique because of his indigenous Australian heritage, would be intrigued by the idea of playing in New York and increasing his role from Tony Parker’s backup to a more marquee role.“New York is definitely a city Mills would want to play in,” the source said. “He has that personality.”"
Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors believes Mills is a good fit for the Knicks.
"Comment From Bob Loblaw Would Patty Mills be a good fit for NYK? Also, would anyone realistically take Felton or would they have to include a Chandler or Shumpert and take less back to get rid of him?I like the Mills option for New York. It’s probably they’re best hope for an upgrade at the point. And I think Felton’s a fairly toxic asset right now, even though he avoided jail time with his plea bargain today, so yeah, think the Knicks will have serious difficulty trading him."
Mills averaged 10.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 46.4% from the field, 42.5% from beyond the arc and 89.0% from the free throw line.
