As has been the case for many of this year’s games, it was a showdown characterized by stingy pitching, clutch defensive plays, and one big hit to seal the deal. It was particularly impressive to watch the Commodores wiggle out of some dicey situations late in this game to hold onto their slim margin and eventually be crowned national champions.
So what did the fans, analysts, Vanderbilt alumni, and otherwise interested observers think of the Vanderbilt victory? Let’s take a look at some of the twitter reactions. That all has to start, of course, with ESPN national writer Buster Olney (and his alter ego?).
Tremendous season by Virginia; much respect. And Tim Corbin and his boys have raised the bar at Vanderbilt, forever. #Goingdowninhistory
