Although Miami Heat center Greg Oden says he wants to return to the NBA next season, if he has any difficulty, he may have a second career in another sport – professional volleyball. The big man, being the kind-hearted person that he is, took part in a charity event this past weekend but things didn’t exactly go as planned.

More from Miami Heat

Oden, obviously being the tallest player on his team, was put on net duty as he’d have the easiest time stuffing the ball back across to the other side. Seemed like a good plan, right? And it was, expect for the woman on the opposing team who had the same duty for her squad.

Sitting in front of the net, Greg Oden took a lob from a teammate and attempting to flush it over the net with a spike. It was a little more basketball related than volleyball related as Oden didn’t jump, but there was no need as he could simply reach his hand over the net with ease.

Unfortunately, awaiting him on the other side was the face of a female opponent who took a direct shot in the mug at the Knoxville, Tennessee charity event.

Thankfully the young lady looked to be unhurt (well, maybe sans her pride) and kicked the ball back across the court as Greg Oden looked relatively unsure of what just happened or how to react.

I guess we should all be glad that he didn’t actually get into the game and really spike the ball like a true volleyball player, otherwise I have a feeling that woman might have needed some plastic surgery.
