The San Antonio Spurs are NBA champions but like all title teams that came before them they must now fend off the greatest threat to a contending tea — NBA free agency.

The market is officially open in the NBA and the Spurs are just one of a slew of teams with big names on the line when it comes to who might stay and who might go. Boris Diaw is one of those players for the Spurs as there’s a chance the team might lose him to another contender who feels like paying him more money for his services.
One of those teams are the Portland Trial Blazers, who are reportedly interested in seeing if they might be able to sign him.
The market will for the most part be controlled by LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony but guys like Diaw could come off the market sooner thanks to their ability to be role players on title contending teams like the Blazers or Spurs are.
That’s not to say he won’t wait to sign or won’t balk at all offers that don’t come out of San Antonio but Diaw has suitors on the open market and while right now it seems to be just Portland, we can expect that list to grow as teams begin to find out where the marketplace is going this summer.
